Portrait #11

Born in a small New England town at a time when people knew their neighbors.  I lived where they left the houses unlocked and walked to school, church, and the market.  Growing up a woodsman and fly fishing in New England,  I developed a deep love, knowledge, and reverence for the outdoors.

In the 1960′s I served in the U.S.A.F., out of Stewart Air Force Base in Tennessee, on a C130 aircraft.  After military service, I decided to settle down in the south, working as a sub-contractor, interior carpenter, furniture maker, and a part-time artist.

Over the years, my wife Martha, sister, father-in-law, and others inspired me to pursue my artwork.  The media I use is pencil, watercolor, acrylic, and pen & ink.  With these I express my form of art.  The pen & ink technique is known as pointillism using dots to create an image.  You will notice in these renderings that I am very fond of detail.  The acrylic media may be considered modern to abstract art.  I consider this form to be fun and smooth to create on canvas.  My commissioned work of homes, barns, ships, cars, antique machinery, and landmark portraits have become cherished family heirlooms and unique gifts.

Self teaching takes hours of study of galleries, artists, and technique to bring out my own style of art.  Of the aesthetic experience, I believe that, “Everyone should support the arts whether voice, music, or creating with your heart or hands.  It is the only real thing we have.”

Now a full time artist, I thank you for visiting my home studio and on-line art gallery.
